I've seen all the movies but I'm certain I'm missing out on crucial plot developments.

Just reading the comments here have revealed some new information but I don't really mind.

Still, can I get a recommendation on whether it's worth reading all the books or should I just wait for the movies to come out? And may I weigh in on Dumbledore. I believe he is alive and that the entire affair was staged between him and Snapes.

"I'm most sorry, Harry," said Dumbledore, stepping forward. He cast a glance toward Snapes and back again. "Snapes and I agreed it was too dangerous to let anyone else in on our plan. My death freed me to work undercover, so to speak. As long as Voldemort knew I was alive, his spies would be everywhere."

"But why not tell me?" asked Harry.

"Because regardless of how hard you may fight it or try and defend yourself, you have a connection with the villain. I trust you, Harry. But this is something over which you have no control. We must never underestimate Voldemort."Stewart Sternberg (half of L.P. But Potter is timeless, and will still have his fans.

As for theories, I'm still with the "Snape is Good" crowd, though when you consider the curse on the Dark Arts job - it has made every person's worst traits/fears come to life - I have doubts. On the other hand, Snape's worst fear could have been that he would have to kill DD someday to keep his cover with Voldemorte.

Anyhoodles, I'm afraid that Hagrid will die, and I always thought Lupin would, too, but now that he's got Tonks, he may be the character to whom she gave a reprieve. But seriously doubt any of the Trio, but maybe one of the Weasely twins (I'd sob) or Neville (also heartbreaking.)

Just my two cents. Oh, and while I'm at it, I'll throw in that I think Victor Krum is Snape's secret son. People think I'm nuts for saying it, but they thought I was nuts when I predicted Tonks & Lupin would get together too. :)RK Sterlinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01034917381901499281noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-55282503134540185.post-20227938860249225922007-07-12T11:40:00.000-07:002007-07-12T11:40:00.000-07:00You know Curmudgeon, you have a good point. Also remember that Voldemort effectively came back from the dead by creating his "horcrux" (I think that's what they were called). I wouldn't be surprised if Dumbledore did the same thing with Snape's knowledge and help.

Like you said, we'll know soon enough.SQThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04251030404220909306noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-55282503134540185.post-73582909360975930022007-07-12T11:11:00.000-07:002007-07-12T11:11:00.000-07:00Stewart's analysis is interesting. Hagrid... yes, I could see that.

My thought was that Mrs. Weasley might be killed, too.

My wife has theorized that Dumbledore isn't really dead... and that Snape really isn't a bad guy after all.

But, SQT, I agree with you about Potter's death killing the film series. It makes no dramatic sense. At least at this point. I think it almost has to be one of the other adults, maybe Ron's parents, or his brothers, and maybe almost certainly Hagrid. Hagrid actually makes most sense because he has been the most self-sacrificing person in the series and will stop at nothing in protection of Harry and the other children.Stewart Sternberg (half of L.P. Because people are so invested in the story they'd be mighty angry at Rowling for killing off their hero.
