Latest Trailer for "Skyfall"

This has been out for a couple of days, but I had to post it because I'm finally starting to get enthusiastic for the latest Bond offering. "Casino Royale" was simply fantastic, which only made the lackluster "Quantum of Solace" more disappointing in comparison. Since then I've been mildly interested, but not excited for "Skyfall" and the teaser trailers haven't been all that enticing to me either. But *this* trailer, which offers a little more about the plot and finally introduces Q, gives me hope that the franchise is back on track.

I'm afraid I'm just so far away from an interest in Bond or Bond type shows at the moment. Eventually I will probably see it.

The last two have been good, but not great. This will tip over to the great category.

"Casino Royale" not great? I'm not sure how to process that. I think that is a fantastic movie. It may be sacrilegious of me to say so, but it's my favorite Bond. It's not the tongue-in-cheek variety, which may be why some people don't like it as much as the older Bond films, but it's a film that can absolutely stand on its own- Bond or not. Granted, it doesn't have the gadgetry we're used to- but still...

QoS, to me, was just boring. Lousy villain and maudlin Bond.

Anyway, I hope you're right about this one. I hope it's great.

Call me a Bond snob, but there were Bonds that I could not watch before Craig. Casino Royal was great and I did like Quantum of Solace. Now I'm looking forward to seeing this one.Dr.No and On Her Majesty's Secret Service have been my favorites up until now.

I loved Casino Royale, despite being highly critical of what Eon were doing with Bond leading up to the film. QoS was to be honest a mess. Most of the problems were with the script (a rush job before the writers strike), the direction (directing an action movie is not as simple as throwing as many stunts and explosions in there and hoping it works and no one notices the absence of a coherent plot) and Eon's insistence on casting a model with virtually no acting ability as the female lead, the lack of chemistry between Camille and Bond was painful. Eon's been doing this since Dr No with varying levels of success. I have misgivings about Berenice Marlohe, but I do like the new younger Q and the plot seems to be much better. If you can't tell I'm a bit of a fanatic when it comes to Bond.

Me too- well, sort of. I'll go back and watch old Bond movie now and then and some of them just aren't that good. I grew up during Roger Moore's tenure and liked him fine. But as an adult I don't care for his take on it much. I like the manlier versions.

You're definitely right about the lack of chemistry. They tried to make a big deal of the fact that Bond didn't sleep with this leading lady, but it seemed more likely that no one would believe it.

And nothing wrong with being a fanatic. It's the only franchise that's basically timeless and it's a fan's prerogative to have high expectations.
