Must... suppress...need...to chop...wood...
Lol. I haven't read the book, but I'm tempted to. I've actually heard it's good.
Ummmm....WOW. You know if it wasn't for the whole Abraham Lincoln thing, I think it looks pretty darn good...I believe I'm both torn aaaaaand confused...lol
I just finished reading this novel... if we want to call it that...and have mixed feelings. Perhaps the issue is that it felt like a mish-mash, it lost focus in its jump between the journal and third person narration. It also felt like the story was merely draped on a framework history, and done so somewhat lazily.I know..I know...this book has received some positive response in the press, and I would recommend it to folk. However, it left me feeling somewhat empty. The film, however, is shaping up to be another matter entirely.
I have an immediate and automatic bias against this. I should probably watch it, but I probably won't.
@Stu-- Reviews on popular sites like Amazon can be really frustrating. It seems like most people don't give much thought to what makes a book good or bad. There doesn't have to be any coherent structure or logic to get people gushing about a book. I'm not surprised this one fits into that category. @Charles-- I get that. I can't figure out where I stand on this yet. I think I need to see a little more.
