"Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" Trailer

I was over this by the third one. But hey...mermaids.

Pirates lost me after the second movie. That was just ridiculously stupid. I still haven't seen the 3rd one.

I wasn't sure if I'd want to see this one either. And the loss of a few characters. I didn't know if it would have a great feel to it. But watching this trailer seems like new characters was what was needed. Well, new characters mixed with old ones. I just might have to check this one out. :)

This is one where the reviews will be everything. If word-of-mouth is good, I'll see it. Otherwise maybe I'll see it on video.

I've always been a sucker for Jack Sparrow so I've seen all the movies. I'm kind of dissappointed that Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightly aren't in it but I'll most likely be taking my sister to go see it. If it's really bad I can blame it on her! LOL

I too can't resist anything Captain Jack, but the 3rd movie was truly awful. I'm surprised at how good this looks, maybe because it's Kiera Knightely/Orlando Bloom free, and we'll finally get the chance to meet some new people.

AND it's sorta kinda maybe a little based on the Tim Powers novel from the 80s! How awesome is that?

I agree with Scott - the franchise lost me after the second movie. The third was even worst. Not sure I'll check this out in the theaters. Maybe on video. I'm a little disappointed they tossed some of the other characters. I don't know if Jack Sparrow is strong enough to carry a whole movie without the rest of his original supporting cast, but we'll see...

Maybe the new cast will be a good thing. Not having to listen to Keira Knightly say "but he's a pirate" all the time might be refreshing.

I enjoyed the first movie a lot, but aside from pieces of the second and third they mostly left me cold. This preview looks very good though, it looks like a bit of a return to form to me. As you say SQT, I think having a lot of new faces actually works - I like Keira Knightly but the plotline for her and Orlando was really done with the first movie and it just felt dragged out to continue with them in the next two films. Moving away from that means that this could become a pirate adventure movie series, where Jack Sparrow has adventures in each film (like a comedic Odyssey).
