Last Airbender Trailer & Hello Wars

M. Night Shyamalan? I can't decide if this could okay (since Shyamalan didn't write it) or if it's going to be ridiculous. Not many clues from the trailer.. I also had to mention this site, (hat tip to SF Signal), that features stickers that are a combo of Star Wars and Hello Kitty characters. Doesn't Chewy look cute in a bow? The site is currently down for maintenance, but I hear you can buy individual stickers for $1 and packs for $10.

It's funny, people keep asking me if my book (The Ninth Avatar) has anything to do with Last Airbender. Nice post.

I had to call my son in to see this trailer. He was very excited. I will admit that I watch Avatar with him sometimes and enjoy the cartoon. If the movie follows along the same lines as the cartoon - it should be pretty good. Either way, we'll be there - with popcorn.

the cartoon was great, but not sure if shyamalan is the "right guy" to direct a movie like this...

it worries me.

I get the impression that it will either be really awesome, or absolutely wretched like the Dragonball movie. You know, in that "this is really so absurdly bad that it's laughable" sort of way...Only, it might be worse here, because it looks like this movie is taking itself very seriously. I don't know if Dragonball took itself all that seriously...

I LOVED the Nickelodeon series! But after watching the trailer a few times, I'm not so sure the movie version will be good. I mean, the effects look like they could be stunning. But couldn't they find a kid who can make the katas look like katas instead of a choreographed move?

I'm excited to see Airbender, I like the cartoon, and didn't even know they were working on a "real" movie. I saw the trailer yesterday at Transformers and it looks interesting. I also was confused by Shyamalan though, it really doesn't seem to be what I think of as his style. I'll be interested to see how it goes.
